How Trump has spent his presidency trying to undermine journalists who have reported on him and the White House, and has been more than happy to offer them media credentials for interviews.
His aides have denied this, but the president has been willing to give press credentials to anyone he feels will help his narrative.
When The New York Times reporter Glenn Thrush wrote an article detailing Trump’s administration’s attempts to intimidate the media into silence, the president called him a “leaker.”
In an interview with The New Yorker, Thrush described the president’s treatment of him as “shocking” and called for the reporter to be fired.
Trump has also attempted to shut down The New Republic, which has a history of publishing critical and often accurate articles about him.
In his first press conference as president, he called the publication “the most dishonest organization that has ever existed in American history.”
Thrush, who has published dozens of articles about Trump, was fired for “insulting the president.”
This is an excerpt from The New Observer’s interview with Trump’s former communications director, Jason Miller.

*The Intercept: Trump’s ‘Fake News’ Problem, Part One* The Intercept’s James Ball wrote about the president “shaking down the media” during the campaign and during his presidency.
This is part one of that conversation.
“There are people that are going to be hurt,” Trump told Politico.
“I think we have a fake media.
I think we are going down a very dangerous path.
The fake media is going to come back.
It’s going to take time, but I think they’re going to get to a place where they’re not going to do it anymore.
They’re going, ‘We don’t like you, we don’t care about you, and we’re going after you, all of you.’
But you’re going down very, very dangerous paths.”
This was the president speaking about the media’s role in the 2016 election, which was also covered extensively in the Intercept.
“The media is the enemy of the American people,” Trump said.
“And I will tell you, the only thing they’re good for is making up things and putting things out.
They are the enemy, but it’s the fake media that is really, really bad.
And it’s been bad for a long time.”

The New Times reported that Thrush had been fired for writing a story about the Trump administration’s effort to discredit Thrush and other reporters.
“He said he received death threats and had been physically attacked, according to his account, which The New Daily reported on Tuesday,” the newspaper reported.
“But he said the threats he received were from “Trump supporters.
“That was a shock to him, and it’s just a very clear indication of how deeply embedded the White house has been in the fake news narrative.” “
This was a man who had written a story that was critical of the Trump White House and the president himself, and then when we published that, he received threats of violence, he said, according, The New Examiner,” the Intercept’s Ball wrote.
“That was a shock to him, and it’s just a very clear indication of how deeply embedded the White house has been in the fake news narrative.”
Thrill told The New New York Post he has not been denied a press credential.
Thrush’s firing was “completely unrelated to any coverage that I did on behalf of The Intercept.”
“The White House was not in any way involved in this firing,” Miller said.
The Washington Post reported that Trump had denied any wrongdoing in the firing, and that Thrill’s article about the White Street Journal was a “false” report.
“It’s a false story that has been circulated around in the media,” Trump spokesman Jason Miller told reporters in a briefing on Wednesday.
“For me to say that the White Houses press secretary was fired over that article, it would be false, and so it would not have happened.”
Thrish told the New York Daily News that he “did not do anything wrong” and said he had been threatened.
This was a story written in 2017. “
Trump has had a long history of abusing and harassing people in the press,” Thrush said.

“We’ve got to stand up to this administration and tell them what they are doing is wrong, and they are not going down that path,” he said.
Thramp was also one of the first journalists to report on the alleged sexual harassment allegations against Bill Clinton.
Thrills story about this alleged incident was published in May of this year.
