SF police investigating death of a man with cancer

A man who died in the hospital last month with a malignant brain tumor was being treated at the hospital of his sister’s fiancé, police in San Francisco said.

The death of 29-year-old Christopher Lee has raised questions about whether police were adequately monitoring the man’s mental health and treatment.

Sgt. Mike Hernandez, a police spokesman, said police received a 911 call at 11:47 p.m.

Saturday from the fiancé’s sister, who said she was on her way to the hospital to see her husband.

“She called and said she needed a place to stay because she was sick and needed to call 911,” Hernandez said.

The sister, Jessica Lee, called 911 to report the man had a malign tumor and was breathing heavily.

He was rushed to San Francisco General Hospital where he died.

Authorities have not yet released the cause of death.
