Watch: Barcelona v Real Madrid

Real Madrid’s La Liga title hopes will be tested against Barcelona’s top four rivals as the two sides meet in La Liga on Wednesday.

Argentina striker Gonzalo Higuain will be without an ankle injury sustained against Atletico Madrid last weekend, while Cristiano Ronaldo will miss out after fracturing his right ankle during his side’s 3-0 win over Espanyol in the Copa del Rey semi-final.

Real Madrid’s top scorer Cristiano will return to action for the first time since a knee injury against Sevilla in the Europa League last month, but will miss the trip to Barcelona, while his teammate Sergio Ramos will miss a Champions League clash with PSG as they seek to end a run of five successive defeats.

The fixture marks a new chapter in the rivalry between the two clubs, who will both face their first league game since the last leg in Madrid on July 10.

The two clubs have been linked for a summer move for Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, but the Catalans have been unable to agree a deal and the Real Madrid ace is yet to make an official move.
